“The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya” – God Knows… English dub
Ok so something has been bugging me for a while. The anime companies mostly do not dub over japanese songs in anime because its too much effort so when they decided to do it for the infamous God Knows… scene in the english dub of Haruhi I was actually kind of impressed. I’m not a dub basher at all and I don’t really have issue with the dub. What I do have issue with is the fact that they completly changed the lyrics when they translated them. I have no idea why they would do that. It just seems so wrong – its like they rewrote the song themselves. Mabey its just because I study Japanese so the word differences sound jarring to me…. However this decision seemed very stange to me. Mabey Im nitpicking but it just bothered me.

I think the dub is even better than the Japanese version of the song! I think that they wouldn’t be able to make it rhyme if they didn’t change the lyrics…
yeah, i agree with katie, but it annoys me too they could at least make them much more similar!
also i would really like the english version but i dont know where to get it from cause iTunes doesnt have it and i’ve had a look around the internet, so if anyone knows could they tell me ^_^
I found it on beemp3.com, as well as Lost My Music. There are free downloads there but sometimes the site can be a little fickle, so if it doesn’t work right away just try back later and it may work. ^_^ I hope this helps!
I usually find that Gendou.com is the best place for finding anime related mp3s. Its one of my favortie sites on the internet – there a very few times that I have not been able to find an anime mp3 there.
Also kudos on finding an mp3 of the english version – I assumed that would be harder.
